PureDerma, in depth.

PureDerma is radiofrequency microneedling — fine needles that deliver collagen-stimulating RF energy precisely into the dermis, combining micro-channelling with controlled heat for deeper remodelling. Explore how it works, who it suits, and how to prepare and recover.

The concerns

What PureDerma treats

PureDerma is radiofrequency microneedling — fine needles that deliver RF energy deep into the dermis, adding controlled heat to micro-channelling for deeper remodelling than microneedling alone. Here is the science behind every concern it addresses.

Deeper Acne Scarring

Good evidence

Why RF heat reaches where needles alone cannot

PureDerma combines micro-channelling with radiofrequency heat delivered through the needles, reaching deeper into the dermis to remodel more stubborn, established acne scars.

Where microneedling works mechanically near the surface, RF microneedling adds controlled thermal energy at depth — creating coagulation zones that drive stronger collagen remodelling.

This makes PureDerma particularly well suited to deeper boxcar and rolling scars that benefit from more dermal impact. Icepick scars respond more slowly.

Because RF energy bypasses the melanocyte layer, it is considered suitable across a wider range of skin tones than some energy-based treatments.

Evidence — Deeper dermal remodelling
  • Fractional RF microneedling studies show significant improvement in acne scarring, with particularly good results for boxcar and rolling scar types.
  • The thermal coagulation zones drive organised new collagen through a wound-healing response stronger than mechanical needling alone.
Fractional RF microneedling clinical literature (Aesthetic Surgery Journal and others).
What to expect
  • Sessions: Usually 3, spaced 4–6 weeks apart.
  • Downtime: 2–5 days of redness, possible swelling and micro-crusting — normal.
  • Timeline: Remodelling builds progressively over months.

Skin Laxity

Good evidence

How RF heat contracts and then rebuilds collagen

By delivering RF heat deep into the dermis, PureDerma contracts existing collagen immediately and then triggers months of new collagen and elastin production, firming loosening skin from within.

The combination of micro-injury and deep heat triggers a stronger remodelling response than surface treatments — immediate contraction plus sustained renewal.

It suits mild-to-moderate laxity and skin that needs firming with more depth than topical or surface-only approaches provide.

Evidence — What the research shows
  • RF microneedling has good evidence for improving skin laxity and tightening through deep collagen remodelling, with results that build over several months.

What to expect
  • Sessions: Usually 3, spaced 4–6 weeks apart.
  • Downtime: 2–5 days.
  • Timeline: Firming builds progressively over months.

Jawline Definition

Good evidence

How deep RF firms and refines the lower face

PureDerma's deep RF energy firms the skin along the jaw and, at deeper settings, can help refine the contour of a softening lower face — refining rather than dramatically sculpting.

By heating the dermis and, with deeper settings, the subdermal layer, RF microneedling tightens the skin envelope and supports a more defined jawline.

It works on skin quality and tautness rather than removing underlying fat, so expectations are set around natural improvement.

Evidence — What the research shows
  • RF microneedling is widely used for jawline and lower-face firming, with good supportive clinical evidence.

What to expect
  • Sessions: Usually 3.
  • Downtime: 2–5 days.
  • Timeline: Progressive over months.

Wrinkles & Lines

Good evidence

How deeper collagen renewal smooths lines from within

PureDerma rebuilds collagen at depth, thickening and firming the skin so wrinkles and lines soften from beneath — with more dermal impact than surface treatments.

The deep heat and micro-injury together drive robust collagen renewal, improving the skin's structure and smoothing lines over time.

It complements muscle-relaxing treatments, which address movement rather than skin quality.

Evidence — What the research shows
  • RF microneedling shows good evidence for improving wrinkles and skin texture through deep collagen remodelling.

What to expect
  • Sessions: Usually 3.
  • Downtime: 2–5 days.
  • Timeline: Gradual smoothing over months.

Large Pores & Texture

Good evidence

How dermal firming refines enlarged pores

By firming the dermis and renewing the skin, PureDerma refines enlarged pores and smooths rough or uneven texture — with depth that can suit more pronounced textural concerns than surface treatments alone.

Deep collagen renewal tightens the structure around pores and improves overall texture, making pores look smaller and skin feel smoother.

Evidence — What the research shows
  • RF microneedling improves pore appearance and surface texture through dermal remodelling.

What to expect
  • Sessions: Usually 3.
  • Downtime: 2–5 days.
  • Timeline: Refinement over months.

Dermal Remodelling

Good evidence

The core mechanism: why depth and heat matter together

At its heart, PureDerma is a deep dermal-remodelling treatment — needles deliver RF energy precisely into the dermis, driving collagen, elastin and new blood vessels for comprehensive skin renewal.

Insulated needles place RF energy at a chosen depth (typically 0.5–4mm), creating controlled zones of coagulation surrounded by healthy tissue — the pattern that drives strong, organised remodelling.

This combination reaches deeper than microneedling alone and adds the collagen-contracting benefits of heat, making it a powerful skin-quality treatment.

Evidence — Why depth and heat matter
  • RF microneedling reaches adjustable depths and adds thermal coagulation — the key difference from standard microneedling, which is purely mechanical.
  • Thermal energy at the dermal level drives collagen contraction immediately, then sustained renewal over weeks and months.

What to expect
  • Sessions: Usually 3, tailored to your skin and concern.
  • Downtime: 2–5 days.
  • Timeline: Remodelling builds over months.
Before treatment

Preparing your skin

PureDerma delivers RF energy at depth, so a little preparation helps your skin respond well, heal smoothly and stay comfortable.

FirstYour history

Tell us about you

  • Any history of keloid scarring, cold sores or skin conditions.
  • Mention recent Roaccutane use or active breakouts.
  • Flag any recent injectables or treatments in the area.
  • Any pacemaker, defibrillator or metal implant — essential for RF safety.
1 week beforeEase off the actives

Pause these for about a week

  • Stop retinoids and exfoliating acids for approximately one week.
  • Avoid sunburn and stop all tanning on the area.
  • Don't wax the treatment area beforehand.
The dayArrive fresh

Come with clean skin

  • Arrive with clean skin — no make-up or heavy products on the area.
  • Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning supplements where advised, to reduce bruising.
  • Stay well hydrated.
You'll be numbed first

Because PureDerma delivers energy at depth, a numbing cream is applied before treatment for your comfort. Please allow a little extra time at your appointment for this to take effect.

After treatment

Caring for your skin

Your skin has had a deeper renewal treatment. Keeping it calm, clean and protected for the first few days helps it heal well and deliver the best result.

The golden rules
  • Expect redness, warmth, possible swelling and tiny micro-crusts for 2–5 days — all normal.
  • Use only the gentle products advised; avoid make-up for the first day or two.
  • No exercise, sweating, sauna or swimming for 48 hours.
  • Keep skincare gentle and hydrating; reintroduce actives only when advised.
  • Wear daily SPF and avoid direct sun while the skin recovers.
  • Don't pick any micro-crusts — let them shed naturally.
  • Stay hydrated to support remodelling.
